Keywords: 2022 Arizona Judicial Conference
Description: The annual Arizona Judicial Conference is a mandatory training event for all AZ judges (ACJA §1-302) held each June, alternating between hotel/conference center locations in Tucson and Phoenix. A committee of the Judicial College of Arizona plans the program and often plans sessions involving national-level faculty. However, several Arizona Judges, attorneys and subject matter experts also serve as faculty. Usually an opening and closing plenary session include instruction, with another plenary devoted to judicial branch awards at a special luncheon. Attendance is greater than 500 judges each year and all judges not attending must receive a written excuse from the Chief Justice. Generally, the conference is not open to non-judicial participants so that the “safe” environment can be preserved for judges to communicate openly amongst themselves and share questions in an open learning environment.
